Last weekend I finally had the chance to see the new Wes Anderson film, Fantastic Mr. Fox and I LOVED it! Loved, loved, loved.
I am a bit biased because my fiance Dan, and a ton of others I know and love, worked on this film in London and so for their sake, I wanted it to be great, and it was. I had the chance to tour the studio back in May and I was really impressed with the puppets and the sets which transfer beautifully onto the big screen.
Dan is going to kill me for posting the above photo, but I just never get tired of seeing his name in the credits - it really doesn't get old. Sorry baby - I'm just proud of ya!
I have been a fan of Roald Dahl, the author of the original book, and of Wes Anderson, the director, for a long time and it proved to be a perfect pairing. Then, throw in characters voiced by the likes of George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Bill Murray and you pretty much have a grade A film on your hands. I highly recommend this movie to all but I will give a quick disclaimer that it may be a bit too scary for the really young ones. There are a few fights that are a bit intense, but I think that any kids 8 and up would be fine.
This is a picture of the movie theatre near my house. Now - is it just me or have movie theaters changed A LOT in the last 10 years? This place has Starbucks coffee and espresso, ice cream, cookies, sandwiches and all of the other usual movie theatre fare. It is all well and good I guess, but part of my misses the simple old movie theaters with one or two popcorn machines and an uncomplicated selection of Sour Patch Kids, Snowcaps, Goobers and M&M's. Anyone else feel me on this one?
